Balance out modern tech-life overload with nature-based activities that positively impact mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being each day as our campers take time and enjoy the simple delights the wilderness offers. Just a 30 minute drive into the beautiful Ortegas is where our camp is located.
The week-long camp is for ages 7-13. Our campers will learn about wilderness first aid, food and water gathering, and shelter building using resources in nature.
We will be outside learning all the different skills needed to get through a wilderness survival situation. How will you stay warm and dry? Where will you get food and water? What to do if you get sick? Campers will learn how to start a fire with different resources and cook on it. How to recognize edible or medicinal plants and how to determine if water is safe to drink.
This five-day camp is from 10am to 3pm daily and will teach basic skills necessary in a survival situation. Come and experience survival skills firsthand from our experienced and trained instructors. Our challenging courses push students to build confidence, trust, and to combat fear while experiencing the exciting wild unknown. Keep in mind that this unique experience is all about fostering a love for nature, building skills, and creating lasting memories!
Wilderness Survival Summer Camp is about balance. Our program is created to teach your child to develop a strong connection to the outdoors, all while learning the basic tools to survive in the outdoors. We provide a safety-first environment where kids can be kids, learning, discovering and thriving. Campers are a part of age-based groups of 10-15 campers, with 2-3 counselors for each group.
Campers bring their own lunch backpack, water and change of clothes.
Track a squirrel, navigate by the sun, breathe fire to life, and make tools from only natural materials. Learning these skills prepares students for a lifetime of rich outdoor experiences.
Every day there are new things for our campers to discover, learn, grow, cultivate, build and explore.
Mornings we gather together with songs followed by enjoying the wonders of the outdoors. Campers delight in the sights and sounds as they explore the variety of insects and plants growing alongside them. Campers learn responsibility and a greater appreciation for the food we eat on our foraging and cooking days. Small camp projects offer the opportunity to build something substantial to contribute. There is also time for water play, hiking and exploration, as our campers work hard, play hard and forge deep friendships.
Afternoons are filled with wholesome lunches and silent reflection among the beautiful trees. Campers are able the opportunity for rest time, listening and connection before embarking on new adventures. Will they enjoy a game of camouflage in the woods? Or widdling a spoon from wood? So many choices, they just may choose to participate in all of them! After singing and our final circle, Wilderness Survival Summer Campers head home happy and eager for the next day.
